James Calvin Boyd, Sr. was born on February 1, 1930 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late David Augustus Boyd and Mary Lou Sharpe-Boyd.

Corine Howard Boyd was born May 9, 1925 to the late Robert Ervin and Cora Howard.  Corine was raised in Andalusia, Alabama and later migrated to Florida where she finished her teen years under her eldest sister, Annie Paul Carpenter.

In 1952, James met his soul mate, Corine Howard and they later married on January 5, 1956 and became proud parents of eleven children.  After being in the Funeral profession all of his life, Boyd decided to attend Atlanta College of MortuaryScience in Atlanta, Georgia and Miami-Dade Community College from which he received his degree in 1968.

He worked with his father at the funeral home in Palatka, Florida from 1957 to 1964 and co-established D. A. Boyd and Sons Funeral Home in Winter Haven, Florida.  In 1968, he later relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to take the position of Licensed Funeral Director and Manager of the House of Albert Funeral Home.  In 1971, he moved his family to Fort Lauderdale and took the great step of faith by opening his own funeral home and staffed his business with his children.

Upon his demise in May 1996, Corine relied on her faith as she dived into the business to keep her husband's dream alive.  She was affectionately known as Ma-Dear.  Her love for God, family and friends will never be forgotten.

Upon her demise in January 2008, her youngest daughter, Avis Boyd-Gaines alone with her family's support has continued to keep the dream alive.
